Another 'update' from Sony. If you want to call it that.

Yeah, people are frustrated. PSN has been down too long (20 days now) and the updates from Sony have all been just like the above. But honesty, what's the point of repeating yourselves over and over with 'the next few days, the next few days, the next few days' and 'we're terribly sorry, we're terribly sorry, we're terribly sorry'. Look, everyone's pissed off about it (self included), but these updates that tell us no more than the previous update, etc. don't help at all. In this case, it's better to remain silent than to just repeat a previous update. What people want to know is something like this 'We're not sure when it will be back up, we'll let you know as soon as we can say for sure' or something to that effect. Until then, why not just stay silent and work on it? That seems to make the most sense to this frustrated user. ~ Crashdown96

PSN Outage Update 5/6/11
Here's the latest info from Sony in regards to the PSN outage.
"As you may know, we’ve begun the process of restoring the service through internal testing of the new system. We’re still working to confirm the security of the network infrastructure, as well as working with a variety of outside entities to confirm with them of the security of the system. Verifying the system security is vital for the process of restoration. Additional comprehensive system checks and testing are still required, and we must complete that process before bringing the systems online.
As you’ve heard us say, our utmost priorities are the security of the network and ensuring your data is safe. We won’t restore the services until we can test the system’s strength in these respects.
When we held the press conference in Japan last week, based on what we knew, we expected to have the services online within a week. We were unaware of the extent of the attack on Sony Online Entertainment servers, and we are taking this opportunity to conduct further testing of the incredibly complex system. We know many of you are wanting to play games online, chat with your friends and enjoy all of the services PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have to offer, and trust me when I say we’re doing everything we can to make it happen. We will update you with more information as soon as we have it. We apologize for the delay and inconvenience of this network outage."

Unfortunately, this tells us absolutely nothing, at all, other than it won't be back up this weekend as expected. Sony has been taking a lot of flak for their handling of their P.R. during this outage. That said, it almost leads me to believe that as of this moment, they really have no idea when it will be ready to bring back up, and they're just re-wording what they already told us for the sake of posting an update. Honestly, I'd rather there be no update at all until they have some more definitive information for us.

Thoughts on the PSN Outage.
So, we're going into the third week now without PSN. I don't have to tell other PS3 gamers how much that sucks, because they know.
At first, I was pissed off. I wanted to know why this happened and more importantly, how did it happen? As soon as I heard it was hacked, I knew that my credit card was at risk. I didn't need to wait a week for Sony to conduct an investigation to determine that. Hacking is different these days. Back in the 90s, it was cool to hack for information, or just for prestige. But these days, no one risks spending the rest of their lives in prison unless they're after money, and lots and lots of it. Which is exactly what they got. Although I did a video in the first week raging about it all. Which can be seen here.
Yeah, I was pissed there too. Only because it seems over the entire course of the PSN outage, that Sony has been withholding information from their 70+ million users. Updates have been few and far between. I don't really care if it's going to take another 2 weeks or so to get PSN back online. Just tell us that. Telling us 'well, we're working around the clock and have plans to have it up sometime this week' does nothing for us but set us all up for disappointment. In my honest opinion, I don't believe their PR department handled this correctly. Then there's the whole issue of a couple million credit cards in the hands of some hackers. Right, we can't forget that. It's no wonder they're facing class action lawsuits.
Anyway, as much as I want PSN back, I also want to know that the next time I am able to sign in to it, that I can do so and enjoy the service without interruption like this again. I have to give Sony props for taking the time to beef up their security. And to be perfectly honest, again, I would not mind paying for PSN if that's what it will take to ensure we don't have to go through this again. I'm dead serious. Sony, if you want $60.00 a year from me or something like that, and for my $60.00, I'll be able to use the service when I wish without weeks of downtime, then it's done. Another large update from my first play through of this crazy game.
Yes, the Solar Array AI 'is' smarter than I am.
My money, along with my sanity, is floating away...
Flying into objects like a dumbass, and other failures.
Random rambling about TV Shows, a new suit...and not much else.
Another one of those 'duh!' moments.
Wasting time, and more frustration with Leapers.
Over thinking a stupidly easy puzzle again. This is becoming habitual.
'What happened aboard that ship was no terrorist attack.'
Why alcohol and thinking don't mix: All I had to do was turn around again...duh! And other failures in the Tripod nest.

Black Ops - AK74u Havana Free For All
This is why I think using the hip fire technique (with or without steady aim) and the AK74u together on tight maps is absolutely the best thing to do. New players should practice hip firing with all subs and assault rifles. This isn't my best game by any means but I think it's a good example of how to play (except for my care package "bait" fail at the end LOL!). When you see me slow down or doing nothing in some spots it's because I'm trying to sound whore.
